Heritage Conservation: Preserving our Past for the Future – May 18, 2024
Ar. Paulo Alcazaren, Landscape Architect and Urban Planner, shared his involvement in the redevelopment of Iloilo Esplanade and Pasig Esplanade on “A Tale of Two Rivers” talk last May 18, 2024.
He said, “It’s a mindset that we have to change and we have to renew our ties with the water. Historically, historical geography, food geography, and history – we have to rediscover all of this to understand and appreciate. We have to look at the natural processes that affect us now. It’s been so hot nowadays. It’s not just bringing back nice esplanades so you can jog but it is also reconnecting ourselves to our cultural and historic roots.”
