We are in the process of moving our mailing list to Yahoo! Groups. Its an announcement-only group which means no one else except the group-owner and moderators can send messages. This avoids spam from being sent to all group members.

We are doing this because we want the subscribers to have more control of how messages are delivered to them as well as making list management easier.

We made some guides on how you can join the Museum Foundation mailing over at Yahoo! Groups:

We have also added RSS feeds as a way of sending out information. If you have an RSS reader or a news aggregator just add any of the addresses below:

• http://rss.groups.yahoo.com/group/museumfoundation/rss

That’s it.

We sent out invitations to the e-mail addresses in our mailing list to ask them to join our new mailing list over at Yahoo! Groups. If you are one of them you would have received something like this:

Near the lower right corner of the page you will see that “Join this group!” button. Clicking on that button will take you to a page in Yahoo! which would look similar to this:

If you have a Yahoo account you can simply click on the “Join the group” link and it will take you to a page where you log in to your yahoo account and your yahoo password:

After logging in to Yahoo! you will be taken to a configuration page similar to the image below:

You can choose to accept the default configuration settings but you have to go through the word verification section and enter what ever text is shown in the black box. After that, you can then click on the join button located at the lower right corner of the page:

You will then be taken to a page confirming your membership to the Museum Foundation mailing list:

If you do not have a Yahoo account or if you do not want to use your Yahoo! account, simply click on the link “join the mailing list instead” located near the lower left bottom of the invitation page (2nd image from the top).

After which you will see a congratulations page.

And you’re done.

One of the simplest ways for you to join the Museum Foundation mailing list over at Yahoo! Groups is by sending a blank e-mail to

museumfoundation-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

You will then receive a message from Yahoo! Groups similar to the one shown below asking you to confirm your request to join the Museum Foundation group:

When you receive this mail, take option #2: click on “Reply” and then click on “Send”. You don’t have to write anything.

You will then get a welcome email similar to the one below:

and you’re done!

If you have a Yahoo ID and want to join the Museum Foundation mailing list via the web, first you’d have to go to:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/museumfoundation/

You will then be taken to the Foundation’s Yahoo! Groups page. On the upper right hand corner of the page you will see a “Join this group!” button:

When you click on the “Join this group!” button you will be taken to the log in page of Yahoo! Groups when you can put in your Yahoo! ID and password:

After logging in you will be taken to a configuration page similar to the one below:

To unsubscribe from the Museum Foundation mailing list at Yahoo! Groups simply send a blank e-mail to:

museumfoundation-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

You will then receive an e-mail similar to the image below confirming your request:

Simply click on “Reply” and then click on “Send”.

You will then receive another e-mail similar to the image shown below informing you that your request has been completed.

And you’re done!
