Furniture and Architecture Using Recycled Wood

Museum Foundation of the Philippines and Lopez Memorial Museum feature furniture designer and sculptor Benji Reyes in Stories About Preserving Our Cultural Heritage on Saturday, May 27 from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at the Tambunting-Villonco Hall of the Museum of the Filipino People.

Benji Reyes shares his ideas and design principles on working with recycled wood and touches on wood as man’s oldest natural resource, recycled wood as a new found resource, the comparison between old and new wood, and furniture and architectural designs based on the use of recycled wood. He will talk on how he got started in the business of woodworking and the various aspects of preserving and developing our cultural heritage through this craft.

Benji studied for three years at the University of Sto. Tomas’ School of Architecture and two years at the U.P. College of Fine Arts. He has held 14 one-man shows. Apart from furniture design and sculpture, he also designs houses and resorts.
